SPECIAL VISITORS AT CIC RANI

 Many special visitors have come to our center and have been satisfied with the activities of the CIC These visitors included many high profile officials and memebers of various organisations. They came for various purposes that included Research and Rural Development. SEMINAR & WORKSHOP TO MARK THE COMPLETION OF ONE YEAR OF THE CICs OF DHUBRI DISTRICT

The completion of the first year of the CICs under 14 development blocks of Dhubri district was celebrated through a day long  programme at the Auditorium of District Library, Dhubri.  A Seminar  from 10.00 AM to 1.30 PM and a Workshop from 3.00 PM to 7.00 PM were organized as part of the programme on 7th Sept.,2003.

The morning session of the programme was presided over by the Deputy Commissioner, Dhubri,  Mr. Prosanta Kr. Borua. The Seminar was attended by inter alia, Mr. Diganta Barman, PSA and Mr. Hemanta Saikia, PSA both from NIC, Assam State Unit as special invitees. Besides, Dr. K. Zaman, Retd. Principal, B.N. College, Dhubri and Mr. D. Sharma, Retd. Lecturer, B.N. College, Dhubri attended the programme as guests of honour. CIC Operators, CIC Custodians, members of various Anchalik Panchayats and officers of various deptts. were also present.

Explaining the purpose of the Seminar and Workshop Mr. K. Kalita, DIO, NIC Dhubri Unit gave a Audio-Visual presentation on the status of the 13 CICs which are presently functioning. He informed that the CIC at South Salmara dev. Block could not be made operational due to non-availability of Electricity.

Mr. Diganta Barman, delivered an Audio-Visual presentation on the application and impact of E-Subidha for rural community & wide implications of E-Governance, E-Education. Mr. Hemanta Saikia underlined the implications and imperatives of the services, CICs can offer for the greater benefit of the community. Dr. K. Zaman made a lucid speech on the rising relevance of computers and information in all aspects of modern life. Shri D. Sharma dwelled  on the issue of information input and dissemination. The meeting was followed by the inaugurating of the newly constructed websites of Rupshi, Gauripur, Agomoni and Debitola dev. Blocks by Mr. Prosanta Kr. Borua, Mr. Diganta Barman, Mr. Hemanta Saikia and Dr. K. Zaman respectively.

 During the evening session at 3.00 PM all the CIC Operators, Custodians and officials from nodal agencies took part in a workshop to address the problems and issues relating to administrative and application of programme. The discussion was moderated by the Deputy Commissioner, Dhubri. Several resolutions regarding administration policies and progresses were taken up after thorough  reviewing  of the issues.

 Deputy Commissioner, Dhubri lauded the initiative of the DIO, NIC Dhubri Unit and the dedicated involvement of the CIC Operators to make the programme a grand success.   

 

Visit of Honb’le MP to CIC Lakhimpur 


Honb’le MP Smti Ranee Narah visited CIC Lakhimpur to take the stock of functioning of this center . She was highly impressed and  committed to sanction an amount of Rs 3 Lakh  under MPLAD schemes for up-gradation  of this center.

 
His Excellency ,Governor of Assam visits CIC Batadrava

His Excellency the Governor of Assam Lt. General (Rtd) Ajai Singh, has visited Batadrava CIC on 16th July,2003 at 10 AM. The Coordinator, BDO Batadrava, Operators of the CIC, SIO, NIC, Assam  along with top District Admin. official received him at the CIC. He browsed some sites and gave advice for utilisation of the CIC facilites for rural common people.

CIC Dhakuakhana completes one year

To co-memmorate the successful completion of one year of operation, CIC Dhakuakhana is organizing one  day long celebration on 24th June 2003 with several activities viz. social plantation, painting competition, IT skill competition amongst students, interactive session with students  etc. inviting  large nos. of prominent persons, media persons, students of Dhakukhana.  Deputy Commissioner Lakhimpur is expected to grace the auspicious occasion.  They have also organized one technical session  on " The importance of  Computer Education in today's world and the role of  CIC there ". DIO, NIC will be delivering the key note on this seminar.

 

Participation of CIC Rongram, Dalu and Tikrilla  in the Development Mela

West Garo Hills District, Meghalaya

 

The Community Information Centre, Rongram, Dalu and Tikrikilla of West Garo Hills District of Meghalaya have participated in separate instances of a day long Development Mela organized by the Govt. in various development blocks of the District.

The theme of the Mela was “Sorkarni Kamrang Manderangni Namgnina” which stands for "Government Schemes for People's Welfare". The Mela was the first of its kind in Garo Hills and was intended to develop a better interaction of the rural people with the government. Various development departments, including the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), Agriculture, Health, Housing, Forest, Soil Conservation, Veterinary, PHE, PWD, ICDS, Sericulture, Weaving, Police etc. participated and set up cells during such Melas in the blocks of West Garo Hills. The villagers were informed and made aware of the various departmental schemes and projects and were told how to avail the schemes for their benefit.

 The Community Information Centre (CIC), Rongram also set up a cell in the Mela. The cell was equipped with computer systems preinstalled with necessary software and documents. The CIC operators demonstrated the objective and utilities of the CICs using a PowerPoint presentation. Also the Meghalaya State Website, West Garo Hills District website and the Meghalaya Board Result Site were demonstrated to the public. They were also told about the utilities of the Computer as well as the Internet. The CIC operators also explained the villagers how the Internet can help them getting necessary information regarding farming, agriculture, health, education etc. for their benefit. A huge crowd was gathered at the CIC cell to get a glance at the Computers, as some villagers from remote areas were not exposed to the computers before that Mela.

The pictures both still and moving videos of all the events that have taken place in the Mela were captured using a digital camera, provided by the DRDA, Tura. Later the pictures were transferred to the computers at the CIC cell and were displayed to the public during the Mela

 At Dalu Development Block the Mela was held on 11th of September 2003. Shri Billykid Sangma, Honourable Minister of State for Sports And Youth Affairs graced the occasion as Chief Guest. CIC Dalu participated in the Mela by setting a up cell along with Dalu Block Development Office. The existing CIC trainees also extended their help to explain and demonstrate the utilities of Computers, Internet and so as of CICs as a whole to the local people with the help of power point presentations and downloaded documents from various Websites. Apart from that the CIC Dalu also extended their helping hand to design and print a booklet unfolding the history of Dalu Development Block. The booklet was distributed to the visitors during the Mela.

The Mela was held on 19th of September 2003 at Tikrikilla Development Block. At Tikrikilla the local MLA Shri Monindra Rava was honoured as the Chief Guest of the function. Similar cell was set up by the CIC Tikrikilla in the Mela. The facilities like Computer Training, Internet Access, E-mail etc. at a very nominal charge, that are being offered in the CIC, were explained to the gathering.

Subject-“DIFFERENT MEDIA FOR GETTING INFORMATION – PAST & PRESENT” 

A popular talk on "“DIFFERENT MEDIA FOR GETTING INFORMATION – PAST & PRESENT”  was organized  by CIC Golokganj Dev.Block at Chilarai College which was presided over by the principal of that college Mr.Santosh Kr.Sarkar. 
Dr.Jyotirmoy Prodhani, the lecturer of the college was invited as the appointed speaker of the talk. In his speech he discussed about the various sources for getting information from …Fantom comics to ….. Internet and also he told that the country will be strong enough when the media will be fully captured. Mr.Prodhani ended his speech by telling about the facility provided by CIC Golokganj Dev.Block and invited the college student to avail the opurtinity.From the audience Mr.Bharat Bhusan Mahanty spoke about the media for getting information and also told about facilities which he has got from the CIC Golokganj Dev.Block like …..

1. Information regarding NGOs.
2. Information of refresher course etc.

The B.D.O. and custodian Mr.Ashok Kr.Srivastava of CIC Golokganj dev.block spoke about the CIC project and the performance of CIC Golokganj.

The CIC Operator of Golokganj Dev.block Miss Manasi  Devi explained about the various activities and facilities
provided by the CIC Golokganj Dev.Block .President of the meeting Mr. Sarkar in his speech urged the CIC Golokganj to hold like this program frequently in the college and provide free internet training to the college
students.

 A SEMINAR ON SPOKEN ENGLISH at CIC Rajabazar

 

CIC Rajabazar holds a free "SEMINAR ON SPOKEN ENLISH" i.e. ( SOSE )  every Saturday for the welfare and upgradation of fluency in English of the local people irrespective of caste, religion, age, education etc. At first it was started with very few people but now it is becoming a great success as it has generated an enormous interest among local people attending the Seminar . The Seminar is a type of Group discussion. Here each one is given a chance to raise his own problems regarding any topic of the language and the rest are given the chance to discuss over the same and make the one who questioned, understand .
