About CIC
The Community Information Centre is a
Prime Minister's project and the Ministry of Communication & Information
Technology is implementing it through NIC(National Informatics Centre),Govt. of India for
all blocks of North Eastern States including Sikkim. Whereas apart from the NIC, the
State Govt. has also been entrusted with the responsibility of site preparation,
recruitment of manpower,etc.The project is a joint effort of Department of Information
Technology, NIC and State Govts.of the N.E. states. 487 such centres are being established
in the North-East including Sikkim out of which 219 are in Assam.
