In the year 1921 under the leadership of
Chandra Sekhar Das was born in the year 1892 at Konwar gaon,
Dhakuakhana. His father Jiuram Baruah was a Mauzadar of Gohain
Mouza. Jiuram was not interested in collecting revenue from the
flood affected cultivators and hence he had to loose his
Mouzadarship.

Chandra Sekhar Das returned to Dhemaji and under his guidance two
M.V. schools were established. One in Dhemaji and the other in

At the time of non co-operation movement in India , student
leaders namely Tirtheswar Hazarika, Rohini
Khargharia, Thanuram Tamuli Phukan , Gagan Chandra Das,
Keshab Chandra Gohain came to Dhakuakhana and non co-operation
movement was accelerated in Dhakuakhana area .After the arrest of
the above leaders Badan Chandra Boruah , Upen Boruah Mukheswar
Muktiar , Tileswar Dutta, Dwarikanath Phukan , Jagyeswar Bhuayan
, Rukmanath Gogoi , Ananda Dutta, Kaneswar Das, Dhanpur Hazarika,
Siva Chandra Devagoswami, Ghana Kanta Das , Indreswar Sut, Ghansyam
Bharali, Boli Ram Hazarika, Kameswar Hazarika, Jogeswar Saikia, Dineswar
Bharali, Bhogeswar Bharali , Phuleswar Chetia, Sumeswar Gohain, Ratibor
Das , Boparam Hazarika, Phoni Hazarika, Hira Nath Sarmah,
Kula Prasad Goswami etc. took part in the non co-operation
movement and all of them were arrested and convicted .In 1921
when Ghananath Borgohain was serving in Sivasagar Govt. M.V.
School, he took part in non co-operation movement , he was fined
by education Director Cunninghum. Then he resigned from his post
and returned to Dhakuakhana. After receiving the warrant from
police he went underground. The police went to his house and all
his essentials properties were looted. He had to surrender in
1922, got imprisoned for 9 months and was fined Rs. 60. Leading
the non co-operation movement in Dhakuakhana, Chandra Sekhar Das
was declared absconder by the police. He was arrested in 1922 and
imprisoned for three months and fined for fifty rupees.
When Dhanpur Hazarika of Ghilamora came to Dhakuakhana for party
works, he was arrested by the police in
(In1921 Mahatma Gandhi came to visit Assam, Kula Prasad Goswami
went to Lamding Train Station to meet Gandhiji. He accompanied Gandhiji
uptoTezpur. Tileswar Dutta of (Jiamaria,Dhakuakhana )was an L.P.teacher
at Dibrugarh. He met Gandhijiat Dibrugarh and joined in congress.
After resigning his service he came to Dhakuakhana and took
active part in the movement. He was arrested by police and
imprisoned for three months. Chandra Sekhar Das and his wife Akon
Bala Das went to Dibrugarh to meet Gandhiji and gave a memorandum
for welfare of tea garden laboures .

Women Committees were formed in Dhakuakhana, Ghilamara and Bordoloni.
These committees provided with Khadi clothesforcongress
volunteers and they set up spinning and weaving
centers and they tried to convince the common people to get rid

In the year 1926 a large number of congress activities under the
leadership of Chandra Sekhar Das joined in the AICC General
Session held at Pandu. The young volunteers took part in the
22days training held by Sewadaland they rendered hearty help to
the session. In 1930 Mahatma Gandhi started the Dandi Jatra
against salt law and consequently he was arrested. At that time
under the leadership of Tarun Boruah, a student of Dhakuakhana
started a student movement.
Joy Nath Boruah, Bhudhar Gogoi and others started a strong
movement against Cunninghumscircular and most of the
students boycotted attending classes for the constructive ideas
of congress a large number of people of Dhakuakhana dedicated
themselves for the welfare of the society. They were Saila Borah,
Kunja Ram Das, Renu Cheta, Dasi Ram Chutia, Indra Borgohain , Bhuban
Chutia, Joy Chandra Gogoi, Dambaru Chetia, Siva Chandra Goswami, rukma
Nath Gogoi , Parama Nanda Borh. They wrew assisted by Govt.
service holders like Ganaath Borgohain, Dimbeswar Das, Trooilukya
Boruah, Kamala Tamuly etc.
In 1938-40 under theleder ship of Bimala Prasad Chaliha , a state
level leader of congress organizational work in Dhakuakhana
, Gohain Mouza and Mohkoma was largely completed . Betharam
Pegu,. Bimala Kanta Doley and Ram Chandra Morangetc. Mishing
leaders came forward to spread congress ideology among the tribal
community under the guidance of BimalaPrasad Chaliha khadi and
village institution were established in Madarguri, Kalabariand
Baligaon of Dhakuakhana. In these institutions people of various
sections were well trained. Under the supervision of Joy Chandra
Gogoi, the khadi camps were conducted. Among the trainers (1) Malbhog
Baruah , (2) KanakeswarGogoi , (3) Lekhan Gogoi (4) Joy Pur Dutta
(5) Someswar Sut (6) Madha Gogoi and (7) KabindraGogoi
(8) Dimbeswar Das , (9) Bimala Kanta Doley were worth mentioning.
After the completion of training they set up Khadi centers in Jiamoria
and Gharmara and manufactured Khadi clothes.

Borah, Nitya Borah, Tankeswar Pachani , Jagat Chandra Dutta
