ACTIVITY REPORT

From SEPT/2002 TO AUGUST /2003

The Community Information Centre Lakhimpur was inaugurated on 17^th August 2002. Immediately after inauguration of this centre, technical courses and Internet services were introduced for rural people at very nominal cost which are as follows,

3 months Certificate Course on Information & Communication Technology

The course was introduced in this from September 2002 . The content of the course content are :- MS DOS, MS WINDOWS, MS OFFICE, internet technology, data processing etc. The course fees is RS 200/- per month. The present status of this course is as follows,

6 months Diploma Course on ICT has been introduced from August 2003. The content of the course are :- MSDOS, Windows ME, MS Office, DTP , Internet Technology and Web Designing. The present status is as follows,

b.. Internet Café
Rural students are utilizing INTERNET surfing, emailing etc. in this center at a very nominal charge i.e. RS 20/- per hour.

c. DTP service
DTP service has been offered in Assamese and English script at nominal charge.

Laser printing RS 10/- per page
Dot Matrix Print RS 5/-per page

d. Procurement of Scanner and Color Printer

One color printer and scanner were procured by this Center from the revenue collected from Students. This center is being the first of such kind in the state to procure the above two important resources. Theses scanner and color printer have been utilized for various works in this area.

e. Block Level Data Base creation
The block level profile have been done .

f. BPL Data entry
The data entry on BPL data has been going on.

g. Block Level Web Designing
The block level web site designing has been going on with collection of important block data , culture, tourist spot, etc.

NET services to students
on examination result and information on education are bring provided.

i. Issue of form
Important forms are processed here by youth like application for job.

j. Computer Awareness Program
Visited local schools, colleges etc. to make people aware of computer education.

k. Participation in exhibition
like Asam Sahitya Sabha, World Computer Literacy Day etc. to make people aware about the various resources and courses offered by this center.

l. ENrich Project
as taken by NIC & UNDP has been going on

m. Constitution of Block Level Committee for CIC
The Block Level Committee with BDO as Chairman with several local resourceful persons has been constituted to look after the various activities of the center for overall growth of this center.

n. Immediate Plan

       1. 3 months Assamese Script DTP course will be introduced from Sept 2003
       2. 3 months Web designing and Internet Technology course will be introduced from Sept 2003
       3. Distance Education         Computer Courses have been introduced by IGNOU and DOEACC as Distance Education. The 29” Color TV with Satellite Receiver will be utilized for this purpose.
       4. E-governance projects will be taken up.

o. Revenue Collection Nominal fees has been charges from students on ICT course, Internet surfing etc. to bear the day to day running expenses, electricity charge, procurement of K.Oil for GenSet, Cost of Stationery and other miscellaneous expenditures
