FISHERIES AT NARAYANPUR INTRODUCTION:-Fisheries can play a significant role towards the socio-economic up-liftmen of the common people of narayanpur development block. It has large nos. of potential water bodies for fish production. As per the latest survey records of Fisheries Department it has waterbodies as follows:-
Apart from this, there is a govt. Fish Farm at Narayanpur namely, Radhapukhuri Fish Seed Farm. It is the biggest Fish Farm in the District covering an area of about 7 Ha. comprising 11 nos. of Nursery Pond, 2 rearing tanks & Historic Radhapukhuri is the stocking Pond. Fish Fauna:-The natural water bodies are the habitat of nos of indigenous species, many of them are endangered or extinct in the other parts of the state. Some indigenous ornamental Fish species, having commercial importance both in domestic and international ornamental Fish markets are easily found here in the natural Water bodies. Fish Seed Production:- Shri Mahendra Borkataki of Khalihamari Village under Ganak Doloni gaon Panchayat is the only Fish Seed producer by using eco-hatchery in the Block area. Fish Production:- The fish production rate both in the natural water bodies ( Rivers, Beel etc.) and in culturable ponds and Tanks is very low to its potentiality. The indiscriminate killing of breed fish and jeweniles during the breeding season ( May-July), destruction of breeding grounds polution etc. are the main reson behind the low production rate in natural water bodies, while in case of culturable Ponds & Tanks it is because of the lack of practice of scientific method of Pisci-Culture, non-availability of quality fish seeds on time. Marketing:- more than 95% people of the locality are fish eater and it is very common dishes in most of the families. Apart from the local markets, a large quantities of fish goes to the neighboring Arunachal Pradesh. Employment opportunities:- There are nos. Ancient Ponds in various GaonPanchayats areas. The area of these Ponds varies from 1.0 Ha to 5.0 Ha. These potential water bodies could be properly utilized for fish production by allotting the same to a few nos. of selected groups, a large nos. of youths could be self-employed in one hand and the economic condition of the villagers could be improved on the other.**** |
