Role of CIC in Spreading Computer education
A.Quality Computer Education at nominal price
When the CIC was inaugurated, the most immediate task that came to our mind was to provide quality computer education to rural people at very nominal price.
Bridging the Digital Divide
So far access to the computer have been an exclusive privilege to the richer & limited to urban centric, CIC has brought Digital Technology the Rural and economically underprivileged.We have introduced
3 months Certificate course on Information and Communication Technology.
3 months certificate course on DTP (Assamese, English),
3 months course on Web Designing & Internet Technology. Those who have taken 2 courses will be offered 6 months diploma.
The 1 year PG Diploma Course will be offered soon so that students can apply high level computer post.
Best Education
CIC is on presently on competition with other private computer education centers here and presently we are the leader in IT sector here.
B. Introduction of Advanced Courses
Some advanced level course will be introduced from IGNOU and DOEACC. IGNOU has introduced Computer Awareness Program (CAP) course. One can learn at CIC, appear examination and get certificate from IGNOU. Also DOEACC has introduced CCC( Course on Computer Concept) course in around 150 CICs of Assam . From 1st September’2003 we are going to introduce 1 month IGNOU Course at our center.
C. Distance Learning
DOEACC and IGNOU will be providing specialist course through distance learning mode. The lecture will be delivered centrally and broadcast to all CIC in the existing 29" CTV with satellite receiver and practice session will be conducted at CIC. Certificate will be awarded on successful completion of the programs.
D.Support to Extended CIC / Rural Technology Centre
Since the present intake capacity of CIC center is low due to limited nos. of computers and lack of space, only limited nos. of students can be trained at CIC. Now CIC is willing to provide all kind of technical support / SW/ preparation of course materials/ conduction of examination/ issuance of certificate/ Skill up gradation of computer operators / Internet support etc. to such centre. Students are very much encouraged to take such project financed by any government schemes/ SHG / self financing . This will help to create a substantial amount of job for educated youth and help to propagate IT literacy drive to all section of the society to far flung area.
E. Knowledge HUB
CIC may be converted as a Knowledge hub in the IT field equipping with technical journals, books, library, SW to the entire area.
F. Nodal -Cluster Support
CIC can act as a nodal centre and provide support to the cluster projects viz. Introduction of IT Courses in Schools like providing course materials, conduct examination, issue of certificate, up gradation of technical skill of operators etc. also can look after various technical centre, data entry works etc.
G. Support to the Self Employers
CIC may provide technical support to self employer like DTP operators, Web developer, Data entry operator, Computer teacher etc. Housewives can purchase computer; teaches their own kids and also neighbors kids.
H. IT Park
Since CIC is equipped with uninterrupted power , generator set, high speed 24 Hrs VSAT internet connectivity , this unit may be utilized as IT Park where people can take some get their work done here with nominal payment. Since the existing resource is inadequate, some additional computer and accessories may be provided from any source to this community centre.
I. Placement Centre
CIC can work as a placement centre and also act as a Body Shoppers for educated youth keeping the track on the future requirement of manpower in Govt/ PSU/ private companies etc. Then they produce manpower to cater the future requirement so that the students will have better chance to get employment.
J. IT YATRA
There are numerous resources in the INTERNET for rural folks, women SHG etc. market prices of agriculture commodities etc. Also they can check various web site and download useful information.
The price list of agriculture commodities of Assam is available at http://agmarket/nic.in.
Around 80 Nos. of agriculture booklets published by AAU, Jorhat for farmers are web hosted in Assamese language. It is about 400 pages of valuable information. So farmer can check it.
K. Organisation of Technical workshop , IT Seminar , Brainstorming Session etc.
CIC can take lead role in organizing technology seminar, workshop, brainstorming session in collaboration with GOVT/ NGO/ SHG etc. time to time to keep all people abreast about the recent technology advancement.
L. Citizen centric service E-subhida
a. Public can receive certificate, license, form etc. They can apply for certificated at the closet CIC and keep track of the status of the processing. And collect the same at the closet CIC.
b. Issue of Record of right of Land from CIC through web enabled system for 2 district ( Kamrup & Dibrugarh)
c. Communication through email to Dist HQ/ State Capital/ National Capital
d. Downloading of forms, project report, application form, etc from Ministry etc.
f. Result sheet etc.
g. Rural Soft which help to monitor govt schemes like AIGY, SGRY
